Dill (Anethum graveolens) is an herbaceous plant that can grow wild or to be cultivated. Originated in Central Asia, but dill is now widespread plant that loves sunny places.

Since ancient times, the dill has benefits as a natural cure for certain disease states. 

There are known effective facts of dill as carminative, at hiccups, vomiting, and other digestive problems. 

Also dill has a positive effect on the nervous system because they are known for its sedative effects. Therefore, the dill is used as a cure for insomnia.

Also, dill possesses anti-inflammatory properties, and is working with inflammation of the bladder, inflammations of respiratory tract and bacterial infections.

To raise the general status of the organism, and protect from viruses during the flu and colds, nibble fresh seeds of dill.

The wealth of dietary plant fibers, gives dill the task of lowering bad cholesterol and raise good, which indirectly affects the regulation of blood pressure.

In order to eliminate bad breath, chewing fresh dill can help.

  • Tea of dill for intumescences

- By 1 oz fruits of dill, anise and caraway

- Cup of water

Mix anise, caraway and dill and take one spoon of the mixtures and pour with cup of boiling water. Cover the bowl and leave for half an hour on the stove to cook slowly without boiling. After half an hour, filtered tea and drink after a meal.

  • Tea against insomnia

- By 1 oz of dill, lemon balm, valerian and hops
- Cup of water

Mixed plants pour with boiling water. Cover the bowl and leave to stand for half an hour. Then strain and drink one hour before bedtime.

Uses of Dill in Cooking

In culinary, dill is often used as a fresh herb, in addition of flavor and like decorative. 

Primarily, fresh sprigs of dill are added to fresh cheese, sour cream, cucumbers salad and goat cheese; in the preparation of marinades for fish and seafood. 

Also, the dill can be serving with boiled meat, with stewed vegetables and soup. 

Aromatic vinegar is made by adding green dill sprigs.
